DoubleTree by Hilton Guests Feast Their Way to Planting 6 Million Trees in 2012
DoubleTree by Hilton hotels across the UK are offering more than sandwiches & scones with their Afternoon Tea this summer. Guests enjoying the delicious British tradition are also planting "double trees", in support of the Woodland Trust's Jubilee Woods campaign to plant 6 million trees in 2012, when they order the exclusive "Summer Tree Tea".
DoubleTree by Hilton hotels from London to Manchester have added the Summer Tree Tea to their menus, each with a delightful woodland-themed twist, and for every Tea purchased; a £2 donation will be made to plant two trees in the Woodland Trust's "Diamond Wood", a new forest being created to honour Her Majesty The Queen's historic 2012 Diamond Jubilee.
"DoubleTree by Hilton is delighted to be involved in such an exciting project with the Woodland Trust in what is a momentous year for Great Britain," said Rob Palleschi, Global Head, DoubleTree by Hilton. "The trees planted on behalf of our valued guests will be there for generations to come.
"We believe that small actions can collectively make a world of difference, both in our hotels and the environment. We are honoured to further celebrate our fifth year of partnership with the Woodland Trust and know our guests will enjoy the fun of the Summer Tree Tea."
The Summer Tree Tea will be available in participating hotels from 1 June - 31 August 2012. From DoubleTree by Hilton Sheffield Park's Pine Smoked Salmon Sandwiches to DoubleTree by Hilton London - Victoria's Double Tree Meringues with Chocolate Cream, each Summer Tree Tea is individually priced and designed, but all will support the tree planting campaign with a £2 donation to the Woodland Trust's Jubilee Woods project.
A year-long mission, the Woodland Trust's Jubilee Woods project aims to inspire millions of people across the UK to come together to plant 6 million trees by the end of 2012, transforming the UK landscape in a generation and providing a lasting and meaningful tribute for years to come.
With Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal as Patron, the Jubilee Woods' flagship project is a Diamond Wood being created in the heart of The National Forest in Leicestershire. The Diamond Wood will be a haven for wildlife and open for all to enjoy. The trees donated from the Summer Tree Tea will be planted in this important new British woodland.
