- 61 per cent would rather spend time with them above any other activity, survey finds
- DoubleTree by Hilton to give away 10,000 pairs of cookies tomorrow for people to share to mark UAE launch of global ‘Cookie CARE' campaign
- Free treats for public to coincide with celebration of Eid Al Adha
A new study of UAE residents has found 61 per cent would rather spend time with their family and friends above any other activity.
New research released today by DoubleTree by Hilton, one of Hilton Worldwide's 11 market-leading brands, has revealed the little things that contribute to people's happiness and comfort.
However, with an 80% expatriate population* in UAE, when respondents were asked how satisfied they were with the amount of time they were currently able to spend with family and friends, less than a third of those polled were satisfied.
When asked what they find the most comforting when missing family and friends, respondents chose random acts of kindness (29 per cent), sharing a smile with a stranger (22 per cent), looking at old photographs of family (21 per cent) and receiving a sweet treat (12 per cent).
DoubleTree by Hilton has served a signature, warm chocolate chip cookie to guests at check-in for more than 25 years as a symbol of the little things that can mean everything to a great travel experience, with more than 300 million being handed out in that time.
To coincide with reaching this milestone, the Hilton Worldwide brand has launched a global campaign called 'Cookie CARE' - with the initiative landing in the UAE this Eid Al Adha.
To mark the UAE arrival of Cookie CARE, DoubleTree by Hilton team members from across the UAE will descend on The Walk in Jumeirah Beach Residence, Dubai tomorrow (Friday 3rd October) from 14:00 to 21:00 to distribute ten thousand pairs of cookies to the public - one to keep and one to share - empowering members of the public to take part in the "pay it forward" campaign by asking them, "Who else deserves some Cookie CARE?" and giving them cookies to share with loved ones while asking them to share their story on social media using the hashtag #CookieCARE.
John Greenleaf, Global Head for DoubleTree by Hilton, said, "It's clear from the findings that UAE residents value sharing time with family and friends above any other activity, and family is never celebrated as much as over Eid. We see this as the perfect time to launch Cookie CARE in the Middle East & Africa region.
"Our cookies are symbols of our warm and caring hospitality, and we want the residents of the UAE to share a moment with their friends and family this Eid.
"No matter where you are or how you're feeling, our cookies have the power to make you smile and sharing your cookie with a loved one makes the experience an even happier one."
The launch of Cookie CARE in Middle East & Africa will also be celebrated with a social media competition, in which one lucky entrant can win a five night stay at the DoubleTree by Hilton Resort & Spa Marjan Island, simply by replying to posts or tweets made by @doubletree Facebook and Twitter accounts, and sharing who they would like to share their Cookie CARE with and why they deserve to win the competition, using the official campaign hashtag #CookieCare https://twitter.com/doubletree OR https://www.facebook.com/Doubletree.
